Description
Spanish Chorizo Sarta Picante, a spicy sausage.
A chorizo is indispensable with a delicious drink and is flavoured with, among others, rosemary, paprika, chilli pepper, garlic and a smoky flavour. The addition of these herbs gives this mild chorizo its characteristic flavour. The structure of the sausage is a little softer, which makes this chorizo also very suitable for use in dishes. This sausage is great if you want to give your dish some extra flavour. The quality of the sausage is guaranteed because it is vacuum packed. This Spanish dried sausage is of very good quality. If you are looking for a less spicy chorizo, check out the chorizo mild.
About the producer
Nico Jamones, the producer of the chorizo sausage, is a family business with more than 50 years of history. Based in the heart of Spain, they make the best meat products in the traditional way. In 2016, they won the Food Award for the best Spanish ham and, from 2016 to 2018, the Castilla La Mancha Grand Selection Awards in recognition of the exceptional quality of products such as this chorizo.
The quality of the dry sausage is determined, among other things, by the meat that is used. Only certain parts of the pig are used to give this sausage the right structure. It is up to the producer to find a good balance between the amount of ham and bacon used in the products. In this chorizo sausage, the percentage of bacon is higher so that it melts well during baking.
The dry sausage goes perfectly with a more spicy drink. It sounds logical of course, but drink a nice full Rioga with this sausage, but also think of a delicious Autumn Bock in the autumn. So there are plenty of combinations.

Storing chorizo sausage
If you have cut the chorizo and are not eating it in one go, it is useful to know how best to store it. If the storage period is not too long, it is best to keep it in the fridge. You can keep it for a maximum of 5 to 7 days at 4 degrees Celsius. Store it in a container or in a plastic bag. Is there a longer period of time in between? Then choose to freeze it, this way it stays tasty the longest.
Baking Chorizo
When frying chorizo and using it in a recipe, 100-150 grams per person is usually used, depending on the recipe. It can be fried in slices or in pieces. It is also delicious on a fresh pizza. Other dishes in which chorizo is often used are a casserole, pasta, risotto, rice or stew. So there is always a dish for this delicious spicy sausage.
If you want to fry chorizo, put the sausage in a pan on high heat for 2 to 3 minutes. Butter or oil is not needed as there is already enough fat in the chorizo itself. You can also fry chorizo with red wine or rosé and eat it as a tapas snack. This is how you turn this sausage into an authentic Spanish dish!
